CLASS DESCRIPTION

What is this class?

The HTML and CSS Foundations Class is a two-day course for developers, designers, artists and business people that covers foundational skills and concepts for web page layout taught through activities for you to apply on your own.

Who is this class for?

This class is for hobbyists with personal websites, for writers, artists and designers creating online portfolios, and for business people learning to create an online presence. It is expected that students have familiarity creating HTML using a text editor or tool such as Dreamweaver.

What will you learn?

You will learn the history of stylesheets, how they work, and all about the “cascade” in cascading style sheets (CSS). This class covers web page structure, color and image handling. Specifically, we will look at the difference between block and inline elements, absolute and relative position, floats, and sprites (large graphics that mimic animation). If these terms are new you, then this is the class for you!

What is required?

It is recommended that you have familiarity with HTML to understand CSS. Additionally, having a laptop with a browser and a basic text editor is ideal to get the most out of the class, as there will be activities throughout.
