Tuesday Nights in October at Tech Liminal, come build awesome Halloween costumes and decorations that light up, blink, and make noise. Â Over a series of four evenings, makers will help each other, learn new skills, and perhaps introduce someone to costuming and electronics.
We kick off the month with Make:SF on Tuesday, October 6. To inspire ideas and comments, builders will show demos and talk about what is possible. After the costume demos we’ll have a planning session, and talk about supplies and kits.   Some supplies will be available through Tech Liminal, others will have to be obtained independently.
This fun-for-all-ages event starts at 7:30, and has no cover charge. Donations are encouraged. Children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Participants are invited to work on their projects at the Tuesday Electronics Nights throughout the month. Working together at the shop means we can share supplies, ideas, and skills. Other demos will include: basic soldering, cardboard structures, working with LED/EL wire, embroidering a circuit.
Halloween Maker Events around the Bay
Our friends at reMake Lounge in San Francisco are also having maker nights this month. Please let us know if there are any other events that might be suitable for addition to Electroween.
October 10, Soft Circuitry Workshop, reMake Lounge
Soft circuitry is a great way to take your crafting to another level! This workshop will cover the very basics of using conductive thread, and creating a simple circuit between a battery and an LED.
We take simple circuits and LEDS, and replace the solder and iron with conductive thread. Using simple hand-stitches, you’ll learn how to integrate LEDs into your sewing projects. The final results are lightweight, flexible, washable and wearable. The techniques you learn here will open up your crafting to a world of possibility.
Whether you’re coming at it as a craftster who wants to add a little extra spark to their creations, or as someone who’s handy with a soldering iron and circuitry, but wants to learn more about wearable crafts, this workshop is for you.
